[ I feel as if Jesus died only yesterday ]

Here are a few of my favorite mind-blowing, heart-stopping, worship-inducing words from CJ Mahaney’s sermon, “The Scream of the Damned.”

“This scream should have been your scream, but instead He took upon Himself the wrath that we deserve. He screamed the scream of the damned for us so that we might sing of His grace throughout all eternity. And the singing that will take place in eternity has broken into the present and we’ve already gotten started.”

And here’s Mahaney on Mark 15:31-32:

“They mocked him as God’s appointed savior… These words of ridicule, these scornful words actually revealed a profound truth. You see, if he was to save others, he could NOT save himself from suffering divine punishment for sin. Precisely because he refused to save himself, he was ABLE to save others…. They said they would have believed he was the son of God had he come down from the cross. We believe he was the son of God because he stayed up.”

Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! I am utterly overcome with brokenness and thankfulness for what you endured to save sinful man. Soli Deo Gloria!

    1. I glanced at your links and I must say I’m more discouraged and concerned by a person I don’t know spamming me with entire blogs full of slander about brothers and sisters in Christ. I’m sure CJ Mahaney, Josh Harris, and the SGM staff are sinful… totally depraved, even. They’re not infallible. I’m sure they’ve made epic mistakes in their ministry, but I’m also sure that they’re willing to acknowledge their shortcomings and repent. And moreover, I am sure that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8)

      I also know this:
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and His word is not in us.” – 1 John 1:8-10

So, as for me and my house…

      1. What makes you so sure that “CJ Mahaney, Josh Harris, and the SGM staff … I’m sure they’ve made epic mistakes in their ministry, but I’m also sure that they’re willing to acknowledge their shortcomings and repent.” That these men don’t do that appears to be one of the reasons these blogs profliferate as they have been doing for the last 2 years. The men may say they are “imperfect” but rarely if ever do you hear them admit any specific “imperfection.”

I am not sure that I would call these blogs slander. Another good reason these blogs continue is how the group defines “gossip” and “slander.” SGM even portrays a lot of questioning as “slander.” The leaders also like to keep their actions, including questionable actions hidden.

It is good that these leaders can’t do questionable acts any longer without these actions at least being reported on these blogs.

  1. Sir, three things come to mind that very deeply concern me.

    1) Your heart. Where must it be that you would contact someone you don’t know so that you can tear down another person? Regardless of who that person is.

    2) Slander and gossip are slander and gossip. The definition does not change just because you or someone else decide to change them in order to justify your actions.

    3) Creating websites and blogs full of the sins and failures of another person is demonic behavior. Satan is the accuser, it’s what his very name means. “Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.” (Romans 8:33) Who do YOU follow?
