Beauty Tip: Makeup Remover Towels

Consider me one step closer to my dream of being a bonafide beauty blogger. It’s time for a product review!

If you’ve been wearing makeup for any amount of time, you’ve probably learned that soap, water, and a regular old wash cloth just don’t cut it when the time comes to take it all off at the end of the day. And if you’ve learned that, you’ve probably also tried makeup remover wipes or solution to assist you in this task. The truth is: they work great, but they’re expensive. And some of them will definitely irritate your skin, depending on how sensitive your skin is and what ingredients are used.

Enter The Makeup Eraser. It’s a fluffy pink towel made of some secret and magical blend of soft and fluffy polyester. It boasts that it can remove “all types of makeup, including stage, sports, and theatrical makeup… smear-proof, waterproof, and mascara”. No chemicals, no soap. It’s just a magic towel that you can wash and reuse over and over again. And I do mean MAGIC!

I was suuuper skeptical about trying this because it retails for $20. Buuuut I was spending approx. $10 on makeup remover wipes every few weeks anyway, so if it did work, it would totally pay off in a couple months. So I went on a YouTube research binge and found that not only does it work, there’s also a super cheap knock-off that you can snag at Walmart!

The knock-off is called Always Off and you get a pack of three make-up remover towels for THREE DOLLARS! (Keep reading. Not all that glitters is gold.)

After deliberating over the insane price difference, I decided to head to Sephora and snag myself a Makeup Eraser, knowing I could return it if it didn’t actually work. I was so pleased with my findings! My only complaint is the price, since I’d love to have a few of them and thus skip the search for the magic pink towel in my laundry.

So I decided to give the Always Off brand a chance. Three towels for three bucks? My discretionary funds could handle it. And if it worked as well as the Makeup Eraser – it was going to be a big win all around.

Unfortunately, this is definitely not a “dupe”, as the Beauty Bloggers like to say. Watch my (first ever!) review video to find out why.

In case you’re wondering how much stuff just came off my face with these magical little towels, here’s a list of everything I was wearing that day. I tried to go overboard for you and use all my best makeup to show you how awesome these little towels are at taking it all off. (Do I actually wear this much makeup on a daily basis? Definitely not. But when I do, these are my favorite jams. And I got a lot of this stuff as free deluxe samples from the free Beauty Insider loyalty program at Sephora.)

At the end of the day, they both work and they’re both cheaper (and greener!) than using makeup remover wipes and solution. Especially if you have sensitive skin!

So, dear reader, the choice is up to you!
